Two Extraordinary Tiger cubs protecting their Mother🐅🐯

These are Choti Tara`s 7-8 Month old cubs from Tadoba National Park. Choti Tara is an excellent mother and has raised some of the most successful tigers in Tadoba. But these two cubs left me in awe.

We saw Choti Tara tensing up when she sensed an intruder in her territory. She had to protect her cubs who did sense the intruders but were unaware of the dangers of this encounter. She quickly signalled her cubs to hide and went to face this tiger we couldn`t see. We could hear the intense fight that ensued between this mother tigress and the intruder. A male tiger will kill the cubs not fathered by him and Choti Tara fought to protect her cubs

The next time we saw Choti Tara, she had a bad limp. She was severely injured and her cubs were left to fend for themselves. I was super worried about the health of this family but what I saw these cubs do is still hard to believe.

These are just 7-8 months old cubs but they were able to successfully hunt a spotted deer once. I`ve seen them chase Sambhar deer and peacocks as well as searching for old carcasses from their mother`s hunts. They not only hunt and forge for food but they kept a close eye on their mother, nursing her back to health

These cubs had a rough few days but that made them stronger. These tiger cubs have the potential to be the most successful tigers of their generation.

There`s something very intriguing happening at Choti Tara`s territory, causing these cubs to be more mature than they are supposed to be at this age but that`s a story for later.

This is Collarwali from Telia Lake of Tadoba National Park 🐅🐯

Not to be confused with the legendary Collarwali from Pench, this young tigress shares the same name and Her story is also extraordinary

Back in 2012, Tigress Madhuri gave birth to a litter of tigress who made their mark in the History of Tadoba. The two relevant to this story are tigress Sonam and Lara, the tiger sisters from the documentary "Sisters of Telia"

In 2014, at the age of 2 years, Sonam took over Madhuri`s Territory and ousted her sisters including Lara. Sonam was powerful, bold and dominant and ruled this beautiful territory of Telia lake with abundant prey for nearly 10 years but then came a new challenger aiming for her throne

This new challenger was Collerwali, the daughter of her Sister Lara. Sonam and Lara had their skirmish in these last 10 years but Sonam always had the age. But now, Sonam was past her prime and Collerwali with the same legendary lineage of Madhuri and her faithfully partner Waghdoh ( Sonam and Lara`s father and Collerwali`s Grandsire) she overpowered her Aunt and drove her out of the territory she ruled for 10 years. Collerwali mated with Chota Dhadiyal and had four cubs. As we saw in the last video, even the queen of Telia is not immune to the trials of Mother Nature and her brutality

Tigress Collerwali from Tadoba National Park and her Trials as a Mother 🐅🐯🐯🐯

We saw collarwali returning from a hunt but something was not right. Her cubs were missing..., scattered and she was anxious, smelling the area and frantically calling her cubs. We were soon informed that ger cubs were attacked by wild dogs which explained her reaction

We were so glad to see one of her cubs but she needed to find the rest. She had a litter of four cubs, three of them were still missing

The young mother tigress relentlessly called for her little ones and soon near the edge of the Telia lake, there was an answer from the cubs. But her cubs were on the other side of the lake, scared to come out to even their mother`s call

Collerwali was in a predicament as she needed to get her cubs from the other side of the lake but she couldn`t leave her cub she had with her alone. Sensing the predicament, the brave young cub started swimming towards the voices of his littermates

After searching for a while, they found the 2nd and the 3rd cub. Unfortunately, the fourth cub did not survive this encounter with the wild dogs. A harsh lesson by mother nature to this young mother tigress and her cubs, the cubs need to get better at hiding until they`re old enough to fend for themselves

What an amazing introduction to wildlife for a young child🐯✨

I met Chinmay and Kirti around and Decade ago and they wanted to introduce their Daughter Ravi to the Indian wildlife. They trusted in my ability to track tigers and we were the only group to spot the young sub-adult Tiger Kalua feasting on his solo kill

We also spotted Tigress Choti Tara with her cubs and the bold Tiger Yuvraj. What an amazing way to start your wildlife journey

This is Tiger Kalua from Tadoba, the bold cub of Tigress Babli and the Gentle Giant of Tadoba~ Chota Matka🐯🐯

Kalua is a sub-adult cub, on the verge of separation from his mother and being independent, and we were glad to see him make this kill all on his own.

On 21st October, during an evening Safari, we were the only lucky group who sighed tiger Kalua. I was with my guests Chinmay & Kirti who wanted to introduce their daughter to Indian Wildlife and trusted my skills in tracking tigers. What an amazing introduction it was. Along with Kalua, we spotted Tigress Choti Tara with her cubs and the bold Tiger Yuvraj.

This is Shambhu, a dominant Tiger from Tadoba National Park🐯🐯

A section of Moharli buffer was occupied by Taru, a Tiger with huge build and strength. Shambhu entered Taru`s territory and defeated him claiming both Taru`s territory and his queen Choti Madhu

Shambhu`s confidence and strength was on full display when a crowd of excitement tourists and wildlife enthusiasts saw Tiger Taru retreat and avoid confrontation with Shambhu

Shambhu`s lineage hasn`t been confirmed but it`s believed he came from the Kolsa zone. Due to his massive size and strength, many believe he is sired by either Waghdoh or Bajrang, the two legendary tigers of Tadoba who passed away not too long ago. But these are speculations. The truth is we don`t know who his parents are

My first sighting from this season was of Tiger Shambhu and it felt like he was greeting me and my guests, welcoming us to the wilderness of Indian jungles🐯
